From data spanning the period from the last pre-1993 to the final eye examination in 2004, when compared to the earlier period (from the first-ever examination to the last pre-1993 examination), it was observed that the age-adjusted incidence of cataracts did not show a significant increase (incidence rate ratio = 1.04, 95% confidence interval = 0.82-1.31). In both univariate and multivariate analyses, higher exposure to PUVA did not demonstrate an association with an increased risk of cataracts.
